On December 15th the openHAB Foundation e.V. launched an updated version of our cloud service at a new location, myopenhab.org . We are requesting all current my.openHAB users to signup as new users on this service. We will be shutting down the existing my.openhab.org service, operated by the openHAB UG, on January 31st.
IFTTT functionality will remain on the existing service until Friday evening (CET) December 16th, when it will then be moved to the new myopenhab.org site. A new add-on for both openHAB 1.x and openHAB 2.0 is required, you can find the according documentation at www.myopenhab.org.
Why are we doing this? Our community has recently announced the creation of the openHAB Foundation, a not for profit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the possibilities and benefits of free and open smart home solutions. The foundation is also running services that help promote this mission such as myopenHAB.org, build servers and other supporting infrastructure. As part of our commitment to this mission we have released the source code behind the myopenhab.org service under the EPL license, which can be found at github.com/openhab/openhab-cloud.
Due to our transition of the cloud service to a recognized not for profit organization it is required to have users agree to the terms of this new entity. We will delete any information or account created under the openHAB UG organization on January 31st, 2017.
This new service will bring along with it enhanced features like the official openHAB Alexa Smart Home skill, as well as new hardware and the ability to have the community assist and enhance its capabilities.
We understand this may be an inconvenience to our users over the next month, but we could not be more excited about the future of openHAB and we are very thankful for your support as we continue to grow and build the most advanced smart home platform available!
